There's always a great reason to wear GREEN!

By FashionRevo08 · March 17, 2010 · 2 Comments · 30 Views

Are you one of those people who make a point to wear green on St. Patrick's Day, and for those violators who chose not to - you constantly harass them?? Well your in luck, this posts for you!

Fashion Revolutionaire history moment: Many people celebrate this day by the wearing of green, and legend has it that there are three main reasons as to why GREEN is the color of choice. The first reason is because of the green shamrock leaf. According to legend, the shamrock was a sacred plant to the Druids of Ireland because its leaves formed a triad, and three was a mystical number in the Celtic religion. It was used by Saint Patrick to illustrate the doctrine of the Holy Trinity as he introduced Christianity to Ireland. In the 19th century, it was a symbol of rebellion and anyone wearing it risked death by hanging. This period spawned the phrase "the wearin' o' the green." Occasionally, a fourth leaflet will appear, making a "four-leaf clover," said to bring good luck to the person who discovers it. The second reason green is an Irish color is because Ireland is called the "Emerald Isle" with lots of green pastures. The third reason is because the people of Ireland would burn green leaves to spread over their land to make their soil richer.

Now with that said, let the fashion begin! In honor of St. Patrick's Day, and the recession (always have to keep that in mind these days), I chose to show three outfits based on one GREEN blouse. Need outfit ideas for later this evening, well take a look - you may be inspired!

The green blouse can be found at Talbots - Drape-front silk shell $80 www.talbots.com -

Here's a nice conservative look - now the key to this look is how you rock your green shirt. One of 2 ways, wear this inside of the white dress shirt and tuck in both shirts inside of the skirt for a nice clean conservative look (make sure to leave a couple of the buttons open to reveal your splash of color. The other is totally how I would rock it. I would wear the green blouse on the outside of the white shirt (tails hanging out) and cinch it with a nice black wide belt. Trust me it will be super hot!

One of the most influential fashion trendsetters of our time, is back in fashion! I mean she is really back! Yesterday Sarah Jessica Parker's Halston Heritage Collection launched on Net-a-porter.com. The line was inspired by Halston's archives as well as the Studio 54 crowd of the late 70's and 80's. Draped dresses, silk jumpsuits, and sequined vests are just a few items from the collection. The line also includes slouchy tote bags and other bags, can be found on net-a-porter.com, but for all you SATC fans, many of the clothing will be featured in "Sex And The City 2" this coming May.

Spring 101

By FashionRevo08 · February 26, 2010 · 1 Comment · 38 Views

Ladies, get your checklist out, and your spring clothing budget together. FOR ITS THAT TIME AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Don't Fret! Remember, I always give you outfit ideas! Stay tuned for my blogs in the upcoming weeks. This will get you started!!!!

Top Spring Trends for 2010

  1. Military influence – One of my favorites!!! Camouflage, structured jackets, army green.

  1. Denim – we are taking it back OLD SCHOOL! We are talking denim shirts, denim dresses, and wearing denim on denim.

  1. Pastels – Just think Ice-Cream colors, not so much just nude

  1. Safari/Tribal Print – think of what you would wear if you were on a safari in the jungles of wild Africa. Can you picture it? Exactly! That’s what you would wear….

  1. Draping – draping is going to be HUGE this season draped dresses, draped jumpsuits, and the list goes on. Its very flattering on pretty much any figure type.

  1. SPARKLE- yes it’s a BLINGIE season, and we are talking on everything. Rhinestone, Glitter, Sequins, Metallics, all things shiny!

  1. Undergarments as clothing! – Sounds trashy? Nah not so much, if you wear it correctly and to proper events. Corsets, sheer tops and lace tops are a few options that you will see.

  1. Sportswear – remember when tennis skirts were really big in the 90’s? Well a more sophisticated look is what we are aiming for, go for pleated skirts, polo type shirts, thigh length shorts (booty shorts are out!)

  1. Floral prints – they were around last spring, and they are still back , so dust that stuff of and work it.

  1. Tie- Dyed – can u believe it? Yes its back

Black Beauty & Style: A History of Fashion : Andre' Leon Talley

By FashionRevo08 · February 25, 2010 · 2 Comments · 25 Views

André Leon Talley (born October 16, 1949) is the American editor-at-large for Vogue magazine and has been a front-row regular at fashion shows in New York, Paris, London and Milan for more than 25 years. He uses his influence to promote young fashion designers, such as John Saldivar and mentors young talent in other fields as well. His most famous pairings of late have been with designers Tracy Reese, Rachel Roy, and singer/actress Jennifer Hudson. He is known as a very close friend of pop diva Mariah Carey, Kimora Lee Simmons, fashion designer and tennis star Venus Williams. In 2007, he was ranked 45th in Out Magazine’s “50 Most Powerful Gay Men and Women in America”. Talley has an honorary Doctorate of Humanities from Savannah College of Art and Design, where he serves as a member of the Board of Trustees.

Talley was raised in Durham, North Carolina by his grandmother Bennie Davis, who he says gave him an “understanding of luxury.” After graduating from North Carolina Central University, Talley received his master’s degree in French from Brown University. While at Brown, Talley befriended students from the nearby Rhode Island School of Design and often went on weekend trips to New York City. He is associated with former American Vogue editor-in-chief and Costume Institute consultant, Diana Vreeland.

In 2008 Talley advised the future First Family on fashion, and introduced Michelle Obama to Jason Wu, from whom she bought several dresses including her inaugural gown.

As of November 2009, Talley will be serving on the judging panel for America’s Next Top Model, replacing Miss Jay (Runway Trainer).

Gwennie is BACK!!

By FashionRevo08 · February 18, 2010 · 3 Comments · 33 Views

I am sooooo late - I just had this sitting on ice, and completely forgot to post it!

I don't know if most of you all know this, but she's one of my fashion faves. I love the fact that she tests the limits, she's edgy, urban and yet still feminine. After a mini hiatus from the fashion scene, Gwen Stefani opened up NY Fashion Week by debuting her Fall 2010 L.A.M.B Collection last Thursday night.

She definitely ROCKED the RUNWAY!! Here are a few of my favorite looks straight from the runway.

You will notice that camouflage and military inspired looks are heavy in her collection, which is also a BIG trend this spring. Yes! We will definitely blog on how to wear that look later on. In the meantime, ENJOY!
